Hyundai has introduced a limited production version of its Disney-themed Ioniq 5, but sadly, it ditches the digital grille featured on the concept

Hyundai unveiled the Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Concept at the New York Auto Show earlier this year and now it’s making the leap into production.
Set to debut during tonight’s broadcast of “Dancing with the Stars,” the special edition features a Gravity Gold Matte exterior with wheels that are designed to recall Mickey Mouse. The model also sports “Disney100 Platinum” badging.
Unfortunately, the concept’s coolest feature has been left on the chopping block. We’re, of course, talking about the digital grille and headlights that showed “sparkle animations” as well as firework graphics.

Instead, the infotainment system has a special startup screen that combines iconic Disney music with a Disney100 logo as well as “pixie dust.” That’s a sad substitute, but the special edition also sports Mickey Mouse-inspired trim, unique floor mats, and embossed Disney100 logos on the front seats and center console.
Production will be limited to 1,000 units and the Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition will go on sale early next year. The car is certainly odd, but “Hyundai is the exclusive North American automotive sponsor for Disney100, a celebration of the timeless stories and unforgettable characters that have entertained and inspired people of all ages for a century.”
Hyundai Motor America’s Angela Zepeda added the company is “thrilled to be unveiling the Ioniq 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition during ‘Dancing with the Stars’” as “Disney100 night is the perfect opportunity to showcase this first-of-its-kind collaboration between Disney Imagineering and an auto manufacturer.”
